The program, whicgh was launched last summer, is intendes to reduce emissions from power plantsx and ease heavy daytime demands that elevate energy According to a press releasefrom Hickenlooper’ds office of communications, the program resultex in significant energy savingsa in the two months it was in placw last year compared to the year Energy usage in seven participating city buildings was down 6.4 percentt in July and 7.1 percent in August.
This more than 100 city buildings in Denver are expected to participate inthe initiative. Employeeds in participating buildings will be askerd to replace suit jackets and tieswith short-sleevedr shirts and blouses and open-collared shirts. Hickenlooper announced the start ofthis year’sw program by removing his tie and jacketg at his weekly meeting with the Denver City Councio on Tuesday.
